I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a stressful year so far, and this looks set to continue over the coming months. Many of us (me included) have found much needed sanctuary in our gardens during this difficult time. Whether you like to spend your time gardening, playing football with the kids, or relaxing with a book, our garden offers us a haven to relax, unwind and forget about the stresses of the outside world.
To a certain degree we’ve been lucky that the pandemic hit during the Spring and Summer months, enabling us to get out in our garden, enjoy the sun and get some respite from the endless anxiety-inducing news stories. But with Autumn now upon us, is it time to put our garden furniture in storage, batten the hatches, and prepare for Winter? Well, it doesn’t have to be! In fact Autumn is a fantastic season and one that you can certainly enjoy outdoors. It may not be as warm as it was during July, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. The reds, browns and oranges of the leaves, the smiles on the kids’ faces as they go trick or treating, fireworks and sparklers on bonfire night. In fact there’s loads of great opportunities to enjoy your outdoor space during this season!
But to really get your garden ready for the Autumn season, there are some great products which can add to your enjoyment and comfort, and make your life easier as the nights draw in…
There’s no need to put all your furniture away in storage. If you do that, where are you going to sit? Instead, consider investing in some high-quality waterproof covers, to protect your furniture and keep it spick-and-span (and let’s not forget dry!), for you and your family and friends to enjoy throughout Autumn. Not only will covers protect your furniture and keep it looking great, but will also save you the hassle of having to find somewhere to store it when the weather turns.
Fire Pits and Fire Baskets
A fire pit (or fire basket) can really add some zing to your garden during the colder Autumn and Winter months. Acting as a focal point while you chat away to your friends or family, they provide warmth, interest and relaxation, brightening up the darkest of dark nights. How about roasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories, or keeping warm while your kids play (safely) with sparklers - a fire pit will add a new dimension to your outdoor space, and allow you to enjoy it even when the dark cold nights set in.
Another fantastic addition to your garden during the colder months is a garden heater. Put simply, a garden heater will allow you to enjoy your garden for longer than you would otherwise. Think it’s too cold for an Autumn dinner party? Think again! With a garden heater, you can keep warm and enjoy your outdoor space well into the latter months of the year.
Storage boxes are a useful addition any time of the year, but particularly during Autumn and Winter. Great for storing cushions and outdoor furnishings and keeping them in great condition, and not to mention giving you easy access to them as and when you want to enjoy your garden.
