Spring is almost here! In between the occasional snow flurries, there’s a definite sense that the weather is starting to warm up. The days are getting longer and it won’t be long until the first blossoms of Spring appear. So… It’s time to start thinking about spending much-needed time in your garden. Are you ready for that? Have you been looking after your precious garden furniture over Winter? We hope so, but if not, don’t fret. There’s still time!
Getting your outdoor space ready for Spring
First things first… You need to get your garden in order, so you can enjoy it. There’s nothing worse than long grass, weeds, mildew and moss covered decking to ruin a good day in the garden. Here’s a quick ‘to do’ list to get your garden into shape.
- Give it a clean
Start by getting up any dead leaves and foliage, and give your patio and path a good old sweep to get rid of debris. If you have a decking area give it a sweep and, if needed, some decking oil or treatment my come in handy. - Cut, feed and fertilise your grass
Now is a good time to cut your lawn and start making it look tidy again. Mossy areas may have developed over the wet months, so apply some moss killer and fertiliser to kick your lawn into life. Finish off with some grass seed to repair the thinner areas. - Revive your garden furniture
Hopefully you’ve been following our tips and advice on how to look after and store your garden furniture during Winter. If not, don’t worry, but now’s the time to give your furniture the kiss of life, ready for Spring. If you have plastic, wicker or rattan furniture a wipe down with soapy water will usually do the trick. Wooden garden furniture can be a bit more troublesome and is likely to have collected moss and mildew. Start by wiping this down with soap and water. Once you have removed the dirt, it is a good idea to treat it with wood oil or varnish to ensure it will stay protected for the next few months.
